MicroSeismic Inc Awarded Whiting Oil and Gas Corp

Whiting Oil and Gas Corp., targeting the Bakken and Three Forks Formations. Whiting Oil and Gas Corp., the wholly-owned subsidiary of Whiting Petroleum Corp., is a Denver-based independent oil and gas company that acquires, exploits, develops, and explores for crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids primarily in the Permian, Rocky Mountain, Mid-Continent, Gulf Coast, and Michigan basins of the United States. MicroSeismic, Inc. (MSI) has been awarded a contract for a buried array microseismic monitoring program in the Sanish Field.

MSI will install the buried array over a 152-sq-mile (394-sq-km) region in the Sanish Field in North Dakota to provide microseismic monitoring, mapping, and analysis of hydraulic fracturing for Whiting’s field development program. The system applies MSI’s patented PSET processing and analysis to the seismic data collected by MSI’s buried array as the reservoir undergoes fracture stimulation. The buried array has been proven to offer both technical and cost advantages over other methods of microseismic monitoring. It enables operators to monitor a larger percentage of wells treated for a more complete picture of reservoir performance.

“This is our first buried array outside of the Haynesville play, which demonstrates the broad market acceptance that this unique service offering is gaining,” said Peter Duncan, Ph.D., founder and CEO of MicroSeismic. “We now have more than 300 sq miles (777 sq km) of permanent buried arrays that are either installed or currently being implemented, which will be used to monitor several hundred wells. We also have additional buried arrays planned for other major shale plays.” MicroSeismic Inccost microseismichorizon spill microseismicMicro seismic in oil explorationmicroseismic corpwhiting gas & oilWhiting OIl & Gaswhiting oil 7gaswhiting oil and gas corp
